This speaker is the 2010 Iowa Distinguished Service Awardee from ITEC and 2010 ISTE Making IT Happen Awardee from ISTE. Gordon has served Iowa as President and conference chair for ITEC (formerly ICUE). His second stint as conference chair merge the IA-ASCD conference and the ITEC conference into one join event stressing the curriculum benefits for using technology. Gordon was elected to the ISTE Board in 2008 after serving four years as president for the ISTE special interest group for technology coordinators, SIGTC. SIGTC collaborated on planning each NECC, now ISTE conference. As a member of ISTE since its incorporation, he has held multiple volunteer positions on the nation conference committees. he is a recent retiree after 37 year veteran of teaching in STEM in Iowa, including computer sciences, twenty as director of curriculum and technology. Gordon has been an active member in CoSN and the NSBA's ITTE since their first years of service. He has spoken frequently at ITEC, ISTE and CoSN. He currently is an independent consultant, speaker, and SchoolCIO contributor.
